What is Psymira?

Psymira is AI practice software for psychotherapy practices in Germany. It helps you prepare for sessions, supports session documentation, summarises documented sessions into a course of therapy, prepares draft applications and brings practice organisation together in one shared workflow. The AI creates drafts and structures existing information; it makes no diagnostic and no treatment decision. The psychotherapist remains professionally responsible and deliberately approves every result.

Who Psymira was developed for

Psymira is built for psychotherapy practices — for the work before and after the therapy session. Not for hospitals with their own hospital information system landscape, and not for coaching or counselling without a mandate to practise healthcare. The software requires a professionally responsible person to review the results; it is not a self-diagnosis tool and is not aimed at patients.

Which tasks Psymira supports

Preparing sessions

The overview for each patient shows a review of the last session based on its summary, the main diagnosis, open points and the latest activities; the case history arranges the documented entries chronologically. Appointment scheduling or a session agenda is not part of it.

Documenting sessions

Recording, transcription and session notes work together in one process. The transcript reflects the individual session; what of it belongs in the treatment documentation is decided by the psychotherapist.

Summarising courses of therapy

Psymira can automatically summarise several documented sessions and regenerate the summary of individual sessions when needed. This keeps the context readable beyond the individual session.

Preparing draft applications

The application assistant guides you through required details, choice of sources, generation, review and export. It creates an editable draft from the information provided — review and approval remain with the psychotherapist.

Supporting practice organisation

Patient management, crisis protocol, clinic finder and practice management are accessible in the same workflow, so that case context and organisation are not spread across separate tools.

How the AI is used — and what it does not do

The psychotherapist remains professionally responsible. Psymira creates drafts that must be reviewed, corrected and deliberately approved.

  • Psymira makes no diagnostic and no treatment decision.

AI results are drafts. They must be reviewed, corrected and deliberately approved; professional responsibility remains with the psychotherapist.

  • The crisis protocol does not replace a professional assessment.

It guides you in a structured way through crisis type, assessment, measures and documentation and supports traceable recording — it does not replace an existing emergency procedure.

  • A pseudonymous code is not full anonymisation.

The pseudonymous code can replace the real name in the workflow and support pseudonymisation. Attribution or indirect identification may still be possible.

  • A transcript is not yet professional documentation.

The transcript reflects a single session. What belongs in the treatment documentation is decided by the psychotherapist.

How Psymira handles audio and data

Audio recordings
Deleted after successful transcription, at the latest after 30 days.
Transcripts
Can be deleted separately or together with the associated recording or patient record; controlled by the practice.
AI processing
AI processing runs via Google Vertex AI in Frankfurt. Before AI calls, identifying master data are reduced; pseudonymous codes are used instead of real names. Free text such as notes and transcripts may still contain names — control over this lies with the practice. Psymira does not train its own models with practice data.
Processing on behalf
Before practice and patient data are processed on behalf of the practice, a valid data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR must be in place. The accepted version is stored with its version and time and is available to view.

Full details on sub-processors, processing locations and retention periods are on Privacy & security.

Who operates Psymira

Psymira is operated by a company based in Berlin. Full and binding details about the operator are in the legal notice.

Your practice’s primary product data — patient records, sessions, documents — are stored and processed in a data centre in Frankfurt. If something goes wrong, an earlier state can be restored. Two processing steps deliberately run differently; more on this below.

The connection between your browser and Psymira is encrypted. Every access is signed in and bound to the permissions your practice has granted: even within the practice, nobody sees more than is intended for them. Access to patient data is logged.

Google provides the technical foundation. Google acts as a processor under Art. 28 GDPR and may use the data only for operation — under the applicable service terms, not for training models without prior permission. Psymira likewise does not train its own models with practice data.

Two steps do not run in Frankfurt, and we say so openly: transcription and text recognition within the EU, and sign-in via Firebase Authentication, which may involve processing in the USA. Which data each of these concerns, who is involved and how long what is stored is set out in full on Privacy & security.
